Trying to test the thought that it is possible to be too old for a puppy. And if moving from NM to ID wasn't enough chaos in my life (and my patient wife's).

This is Tucker, my 12 week old Airedale pup. Hope to work him on squirrels (should be easy enough) and birds (more of a challenge). Pretty amazing pup - very calm, very content, observant, and too dadgum smart I think.

We'll see how this goes!

Good pup, may make a bear tracker?

You are never too old for a good puppy. I am an old fart and my newest pup, a Border/Aussie cross that just turned six months old. I started working with my Dad training sheep dogs back in the 50's, but this one will be for cows.

He shows signs of an unusually cold nose for an Airedale, already. Still a sight dog, but uses his snoot more than the others we have had. When I can get to my box with the scent in it, will start laying some trails in the back yard to see what he does - a puppy dropping into the middle of unpacking after moving might not be the best approach, but getting him in the summer beats having to deal with house training and such in the midst of a north Idaho winter.

A wordy response to the bear question - not really sure. I have never hunted bear, likely need to find somebody that knows the ropes.

Nice doggie.
Bring him down to hoover Dotti's bowl. Never had a dog not wolf down food.
He can go home with a truckload of bones.

I am looking forward to a good road trip with this little guy next year. Chases butterflies like Dottie, has Scout playing like a puppy, and the Rat Dog got caught playing this morning. Had him in the house while we ate tonite...after a bit of correction, he just laid down and watched us eat. And wolfed the french fries we shared with him and the two big uns.

Take care, Hank!
