A lot would depend upon what species you hunt, how far you have to travel to hunt those species, etc. I have a different "list" depending upon if I am backpack elk hunting versus antelope hunting versus bear hunting. Not too much different, but would be way different than if I was hunting cornfield whitetails in Iowa.

This! Where you hunt and what you hunt will determine what you carry. Like BF, my lists aren't terribly different, but they are different and the AMEX list and pack changes. For instance, whitetail hunting in IN I just carry a fanny pack as I can drag and/or use an ATV to get the deer out. I always have a rangefinder, grunt tube, camera, 1 knife, gear hoist rope, and 2 headlamps in the fanny pack. Hunting where there's a good chance I'll be packing the animal out on my back, I carry a largish internal frame backpack that will always have: 2 ways to start fire, TP+baby wipes, water bladder, rangefinder, 2 knives, snacks, rain gear, paracord, game bags, binos, camera, GPS, and heavy duty trashbags.

Those are sorta the basics of the two "kits" I use and will add/subtract depending on the area, time of year, and critter I'm hunting.
