My daughter harvested her first turkey during NM 2022 youth opener. This year we were fortunate to gain access to an area with a good turkey population.

At approximately 7:30AM this guy came in with his friends trying to get a closer look at our decoy. My daughter made a great shot on this young tom and dropped him with the REM 870 in 20ga. I used a Primos "Ol' Betsy" slate call.

Very proud of her bagging this turkey, we're planning on going back next weekend since she has a second tag to fill.

I see many more turkeys in her future. Love the camo curls.

Her setup is not much different from my own. Got an Ithaca bottom-eject pump 20 gauge and a Primos "Ol Betsy" slate as well. Used to use the box call, but once you get good with the slate, it seems a better way to go. (My mouth calls seem to bring in everything BUT turkeys).
