Crossbows

You guys are hilarious in a kindergarden kind of way:rolleyes:

Al I can say is that I would have been able to shoot many more bulls if I had a crossbow in my hands instead of a bow. I don't know how many times I have been unable to draw back my bow due to an elk staring me down. That is part of the challenge that makes bow hunting so much fun.

Greenhorn, you can call me a gay, limp wristed, limp walking, pillow biting, liar all you want. Your childish behavior and homophobic comments prove nothing but your insecurity and level of maturity.

Your hatred for homsexuals is unequaled on this site, I'm sure it will take you far in life. I can tell you that I would never buy a Mystery Ranch product becasue of the immature way you act and the hate comments you make on this site as someone who is associated with and represents the Mystery Ranch company. Quite frankly MR and Big Fin along with his sponsors should be embarssed about the homophobia you represent and the hate you preach on this site. Good luck with that.

Toadslayer, this is the mentality of the person you are dealing with. Good luck making sense of it.

I know, but that part of the challenge sucks alot too. AGREE?

Nope...I don't agree. One of the main reasons I bow hunt is because it is challenging, not because it is easy. If I wanted to easily kill a bull with my bow I would go over to Idaho and kill a bull inside of a high fence.

I honestly believe that with how many times I could have easily killed a bull with a crossbow and was unable to with my bow, many more bulls would get killed during archery season. If this happens there will be even more pressure from rifle only hunters to shorten bow seasons or take them out of the rut. There is already pressure on the FWP to limit archery hunting in some areas because they feel that to many bulls are being killed by archers.

have you ever hunted with a crossbow? or are you just using the traditionalist talking points here? never seen a crossbow hunter walking thru the woods with the crossbow already in the shooting position.

don't use one, but don't care of others do. including the disabled or handicapped if it keeps their lifelong hunting tradition going.

and not that I care about one's persons opinion, but have no idea why using a crossbow is gay? guessing there will not be an intelligent answer to that.

TLC - Yes I have used one before. I guarantee you that most people that sit in a tree stand dont wait until they see a deer they want to shoot to @#)(# their crossbow. I can also guarantee you that anyone using one to hunt elk during the rut from the ground do not wait until they have called in a bull to 20 yards before cocking their crossbow. They might not walk around with it cocked but they certainly @#)(# it before they attempt to call one in.

I have no problem with someone that has a legitimate medical reason for not being able to draw back a bow getting a special permit to use a crossbow during archery season.

How about allowing crossbows and shortening rifle season instead?

I've bowhunted since I was 16 ( I'm 50) and recently I bought a crossbow for my daughter but I plan on using it too. I'll be taking both my Matthews Drenalin and the crossbow on a hunt in May.
I guess that makes me Bi-huntual.

Don't pay attention to the homophobic attitudes and homosexual hate along with derogatory comments some make on this site. They are clearly classless and don't belong on such a great forum like OYOA Hunt Talk. At some point hopefully they will be weeded out as the non contibutors that they are as I'm sure the sponsors don't agree with these extremist views and won't want to be associated with the derogatory comments they make about homosexual people on a regualr basis on this forum. I'm sure Bowtech and it's Stryker product line don't appreciate what has been said about it's products on this forum either.

Actually to the adults in this conversation it makes you and your daughter one of the many hunters who are using a crossbow in the growing number of places where crossbows are legal during archery season. Good luck on your hunt in May.

You might think about a late Montana whitetail doe crossbow hunt sometime between Dec 1 and Jan 15. In a few units with WRA's (Weapons Restriction Areas) you are allowed to use a crossbow during archery season in Montana. Great time to get out in Montana with your crossbow and fill the freezer with deer during archery season. :hump:

has anyone actually witnessed someone toting a crossbow in the mountains? Greg Ritz on Shockey's tv show doesn't count

Dude I will help you out since you can't seem to let it go. Weapon restricted areas are not the same as the general archery season. Read SHoots post again slowly

You didn't say general archery season. Read my signature real slow. You'll figure it out, your fellow Montanans were able to. I'm officially done with this thread. Nothing else to prove. Once you admit you were wrong like I did I'll change my signature. :W:

My sons are just getting the hunting itch, both want to do archey only, but neither one can pull back enough draw weight to be able to hunt with their bows. I'll be getting them a crossbow to try out hunting. And they can shoot it when they come to visit just for fun. I'm not against crossbows for kids and elderly and disabled. I have friends that choose to hunt with a crossbow when and where they can, and I respect that. We are all hunters, and that's what should matter more than anything. I prefer my Z7 and the challenge that comes with bow hunting, but I'm not egotistical enough to push my views on other people about how they should hunt. To each their own as long as they are out in the field. :D
