Eastern Plains Deer Season stays Status Quo

While they acknowledged the change would promote more mature deer long term, public support for the status quo was very high, CWD occurs more in mature mule deer, buck/doe ratios are already high and populations are already above objective.

OTC archery season - No change yet. Further change to more bull only zones or draw units could (and almost certainly will) come at any time following issue papers, even outside the 5 year season structure.

Change in rifle season dates - Expect significant changes to tags quotas come next April.

Pretty disappointing listening to that round of comments by the commission. I've had a few conversations with that Bio, Brian, and he's really knowledgeable on the eastern plains.

Thanks for the update Vanish.

I wish this nugget of information had been publicized before the commission moved some rifle seasons to later dates. Some hunters can’t seem to wrap there heads around the reality that increased success due to later hunt dates is going to result in a corresponding decrease in tags.
