We had a friend lose a horse once to grain overload after breaking into their feed room. It's not pretty to watch.

Way back in the old days the US Park Service learned this lesson the hard way when they started feeding the elk at Jackson Hole during the winter. The more they fed them, the more of them died. Finally they got the diet right. But that just made the problem worse. Too many elk is too many elk.
