Anyone else counting the day's till there first fall hunt? In 30 days I'll be in SW Colorado chasing elk. So what's everyone's "first hunt" plan and how far of is it?

I can bring a pretty smart GSP, he has too much energy and the first hour he will be a flushing dog.

Dog watches the ball land, marks it, and then totally misses it because some turkey dropped a load 25 yards farther out.

Second dog lets the ball bounce off her face and then loses it.

We're gonna be a total chitshow in the woods.

Archery opener for deer here in NJ is 4 weeks away on 9/11 this year.
4 weeks after that, heading to WY for rifle elk.
