viral hemorrhagic disease (VHD), is a highly infectious and lethal form of viral hepatitis that affects hares and cottontail rabbits. Mortality rates generally range from 70 to 100 percent. is wiping out rabbits out, with now end in sight.
I do love to hunt them in the winter between other hunting, but I try to resist now.

Yes hemorrhagic disease is a problem in some areas, some it is not.
No need to forgo rabbit hunting where no issues.

Ate a cottontail last week, forgot how yummy they are.

Good grief @shrapnel! Are you the reason I only killed two rabbits all of November in MT? That looks like a ton of fun. I just had some rabbit in a pot pie for dinner last night. It was as delicious as I remembered.

I do, but the one i have now is to old and fat to hunt behind anymore. He makes it about 50 yards and has to stop and take a break for several minutes. I think the rabbits in my yard have figured this out and tease and torment him.

I always wanted a Remington Nylon 66 (but in Apache Black), a Winchester 9422, a Marlin 39A, and a Browning Semi Automatic 22. I have gotten the lever actions, so now I need to work on the semi-autos.

My kid is hell on small game around here. He did a little clean and cook the other night. Heart shot it with his pellet gun and watched it “flop” after it ran. Note the fancy camo and footwear.
