We finally got the cold weather needed to force the ducks back to the bay. As the photos depict, we were on the "X" as the tide changed. As we departed during high tide, 1000's of pintail and widgeon were honing in on the "X" we had just vacated. Too bad we didn't have a couple more hunters with us as they would have easily limited on sprigs and widgeon drakes. Anyhow, great way to start off the new year!

If there is one thing I miss about living within the Pacific Flyway, it is the abundance of Pintails. Certainly one of the prettiest birds God ever made! Great hunt, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments gentlemen. I can't go to the coast this weekend, but I am going to run up the Columbia River and try to locate some Gadwall's. Our season closes on the 27th, so I'll definitely have one more waterfowl post prior to the season closing. Could be good, could be bad, but it beats the hell out of work!
