Celebrity poacher wins Penn. elk tag

Another national org shamelessly plugging the illegal plugger.

I really can’t understand why they would retweet and endorse a poacher.

Good luck finding a conservation organization that does it exactly the way you want them to 100% of the time. Highly likely that the person running the RMEF social media doesn’t know the history of the person in question. A simple note of education to them explaining your disappointment in seeing the post would probably do wonders. Don’t pull something jerking your knee.

I’m not asking orgs to do everything right all of the time. But not endorsing a poacher is a pretty small ask.

I don’t have social media so I didn’t see the referenced post. But I do feel it should be up to the orgs to police and edit their own posts and not rely on followers to “educate” them.

I get their SM person might be contracted and not an RMEF employee. I was an ED of a small non profit and we contracted our SM out. But we held them to a high standard and expected knowledgeable content to be produced.

I would expect an even higher standard from a national org with a large budget.

Agreed! The person running the social media likely didn’t know it was a convicted poacher in the video of a giant elk harvested in Pennsylvania that they shared from another account. They didn’t take it upon themselves to load the video and create a post. They just shared another post.

Your right….but the good rmef does and has done vastly out weighs this mistake. Step away from the cliff and reach over and grab some perspective out of your fridge.

Meh. Already in bed, no more fridge perspectives.

Not blaming RMEF directly, I still support them. Just think a little more editorial oversight is a small ask.

Nighty night

What would we think of like a celebrity-enhancement along with the trophy enhancement that is out there now. Extra $1 for every follower on social media?

I’m also not against allowing these celebrity level hunters be banned from interstate hunting indefinitely.
