Any cavers / rock climbers on here? I found a really deep crevasse that seems to have a pretty large cave underneath. It’s in otherwise fairly flat terrain. I’d love to know what’s down there. I enjoy exploring caves that I can crawl through, etc, but this is way beyond my comfort level. I dropped a rope down it with a weight, it’s over 50’ deep. The picture doesn’t do it justice, the opening at the surface is maybe 4’ x 12’, but appears to open up much wider beneath.
If anyone has the equipment and know-how to explore something like this let me know and I will share the location in a PM.

Take a rope and a go pro and lower it down to see if you could get a video of what it looks like. If you find someone that explores it I'd like to see some pictures or video of it.
I've only been in one cave and loved it. Nothing serious but if I lived closer to caves I'd be an avid explorer.

Years ago, I worked peripherally in the coal mine industry. Was in mines a handful of times. That was probably enough caving for me.

Drop a rock into it and see how long it takes for it to hit the bottom. Would be interesting to fly a small drone down into there.

I enjoy it. Haven't ever done one where you have a 50' drop in to get started though.

This one is a 6 1/2 mile hike to get to. About 20 years ago we got some literature on this cave from the local Forest Service district office but now they act like it doesn't exist. Doesn't show up on any maps that I've found. I've explored it several times and have about 600' of passages mapped out. It gets 30'+ high in some spots. Pretty neat cave. A creek runs through it so best to explore in late summer with the creek isn't running as much. The passage in the video is the upper passage that is probably 50' higher than the main lower passage. It's south of Livingston and a pretty cool cave to explore. The lower entrances are just duck your head a little, you don't have to go through the narrow exit in the video if you didn't want to you could back track and go out the larger entrance.
