Cast & Blast, and Blast

Had a few days of vacation to kill, so I loaded up and headed for utopia. I put the new tent through the paces.



I’m figuring out the stove, it’s pretty miserly on wood with this small of a tent. Last night I got the flame a little too big and had to open the door and window.

We explored.



We caught fish.



We shot birds.



We shot deer.






We loaded the Tundra and came home.

Field notes…

The steelhead run this year really sucks. Could be a slim year for fish. 14 hours in the water, two Chinook, five rainbows and zero steelhead.

Holy cats there were a lot of deer hunters. I fished through the middle of the day yesterday and then tried a wildcard spot I had looked at before but never tried. I hiked all of 500 yards from the truck and sat down. I shot my deer between me and the truck about 15 minutes before the end of shooting light. I like that.

Birds are spotty. Some areas good. Some areas not so good.

Tomorrow is a clean gear and cut meat day, then back to the grind.

I found that before I left. I actually found it walking out a closed road that morning, must be a lucky dolla?
