"Although she objects to being labeled an anti-hunter, Shadix is openly and adamantly against the hunting of Florida’s black bears..."

Curious what her personal definitions of the words "anti" and "hunting" are.

It's an expensive way to ensure more hunting of them in the future, and probably higher quotas too. Lot's of silliness.

Correct, they clearly don't understand that game management agencies will just increase the tags issued next year.

I do find the premise interesting though to see where people land on payments to not hunt or if you can't be bought at all

Nope. If I wasn’t going to hunt it I wouldn’t apply. I wouldn’t take the opportunity from another hunter. Besides I am sure that Florida F&G has a target harvest they want to achieve. Tags will be increased in future years to get the desired harvest.

With the right price and circumstances most people can be "bought" IMO. I'll throw a couple scenarios out there.

#1: Let's say I applied for a tag and drew as a non resident (don't even know if there are NR tags). The tag probably cost a couple to few hundred (if like a lot of nr tags) and I'll be spending at least 1K in expenses with gas and travel. With that considered 2k ain't even coming close.

#2: I'm a resident who was excited initially applied and got lucky and drew a tag. I've done some scouting but haven't seen any bears or sign and am not confident of success. Also life has thrown a few challenges broken down truck, sick kid, unexpected home repairs, etc and I'm not even sure I'll have the time to go out and try. I'd probably take the 2k.

I understand wanting to stand on one's principles but seeing as how it'll just lead to higher quotas I see it more like taking money out of the antis pockets. If they wanna blow their money and accomplish nothing great! Sure they can pat themselves on the back when they buy a tag and go "yay we saved a bear" not understanding it'll just lead to more tags and more bears shot.

I think this is a fantastic point. Furthermore, the increase in issued tags the next year would add more revenue to the fish and game department in sales, so its almost a win win for wildlife and hunters

If someone wants to pay me not to use a tag, I'd take it depending on the $ value. Could fund another hunt somewhere else! I'm also not chasing glory tags.

I wonder what the agreement looks like in the link shared.

I LOVE the idea of taking the anti's money, then going and shooting a bear anyway.
I wonder whether or not any "agreement" can really prevent you from using a government issued tag.

I'd have to do some careful reading of the contract and make sure there weren't any caveats in there stating I wouldn't hunt them in the future and nothing in there stating I support their cause or other goofiness.

If all checked out, I'd probably let them waste their money by putting it in my pocket.

If it were an animal I really cared to hunt, I can't imagine the circumstances that would make me sell it.

Most states let you choose if you want your harvest information publicly shared or kept private. If you chose to keep your info private and didn't post on social media how would they prove you killed a bear?

the courts can definitely force that 2k back, or prevent it from being disbursed, if the agreement is broken.
