Hey folks,

This coming Thursday, March 14th, there's a Camo at the Capitol lobby day planned. It's a full day of learning how to lobby effectively, what bills are active (the good, the bad and the ugly), watching the Senate Floor Session, attending a committee hearing, meeting with the GOvernor's wildlife and natural resource policy staff and we'll be focusing on four critical bills:

1.) HB 265 - Which would reverse the Supreme Court's decision on Habitat Montana Easements not needing political oversight.

2.) HB 550 - This would make it harder to discover historical county roads by eliminating the gas tax map. This bill is being brought at the request of Crazy Mountain Landowners and would have negative effects on being able to prove what is a county road, and what isn't.

3.) SB 301 - This bill would make it harder to close county roads, and give County Commissioners more power to deny an illegal road closure.

4.) HJ 18 - The Elk Shoulder Seasons Resolution. Good work was done in the House to amend some of the bad provisions out of the resolution, but it still contains many problematic issues. We need a new Elk Management Plan, not an enshrinement of Shoulder Seasons.

We had a great turnout. About 20-30 folks showed up and hit legislators all day long after getting a little training session on how to be effective in the capitol.

Then we all went to the hearing on HB 265, and vastly outnumbered the proponents. Schaaf came up as well and killed his testimony.

265 would be hilarious if these people didn’t take themselves so seriously and didn’t have a bit of power.
Are you funded by ‘dark money or Dianne Feinstein or other people that don’t want us to own guns?’

Heinebach is a piece of work. It was fun seeing Fielder get all c worded up ( we’ll call it cantankerous) as opponent after opponent came up and Cohenour asked questions.
These hearing are proof that you don’t have to be intelligent in the slightest to hold public office.
