7 each Colorado and Wyoming

Not looking for trophies just a good hunt.

What state are you burning first ?

Also, if you're looking at colorado and want to filter/sort the draw odds without scrolling through all the PDFs from CPW, check out tallotags.com. It's basically a colorado specific gohunt that's free to use right now. If you've already got a gohunt subscription you might as well use that, but I can't stomach $150 a year when I basically only hunt Colorado. As an example, here's a screenshot of the third and fourth rifle tags in Colorado that took either 6 or 7 points to draw in 2025 as a resident. Harvest stats for each unit in the tag are also listed. 1772763043357.png

I would burn Colorado first. Just seems like you can find a giant in any unit there. In my experience Wyoming is a little more difficult to find a big one if thats what youre after.

I agree with the Colorado vote. I’m currently sitting on very few points now in Colorado. I will be trying out the new system when it’s in place it looks like haha. I’m using deer points in another state this year, and growing points in three others. I’m finally getting enough points in enough states for enough animals to hunt somewhere halfway decent each year

that's where we are barring Elk in colorado. We burned those a few years ago so we're back in the process of trying to get to three or four before we apply.

Assuming nonresident for both, go where you get the biggest bang for the buck. Financial considerations for both. To maintain CO points is steep compared to maintaining WY points but neither are free. 7 points in either state can get you a decent (not premium) archery or maybe a muzzleloader tag. Especially in WY if you want to use the 7 points in the "Special License Pool" it might carry the weight of 10 or more points. I don't think it's one state or the other discussion. You've invested 7 years in each already. Go where your points carry the most weight balancing time to draw and financial decisions.

Yes NR for both. That's what we are trying to figure out with the new Co draw coming

The CO change should be something similar to UT 50/50 split if you're familiar with that. I'm sitting on CO waiting for the change to happen for my deer pts and may cash in elk this year or next. Seems to be an unpopular postilion to sit on CO. Most guys are upset and want out and from the top points holders I get it. For the rest of us I think it's (albeit small) additional opportunity. Have you ran odds and costs for both? That'll usually helps make the call.

We ended up doing otc Colorado elk for sure and applying to Wyoming with special draw for deer. Going to burn Colorado deer next year.
