bummer day

I've been on the road for the last two weeks...a little for work and a little for vacation. Things were going great until this evening. Today I get home and I smell the familiar smell of rotten meat. Turns out my contractor turned off the power in my basement and mistakenly shut off my deep freeze. There goes part of a deer, several pheasants, ducks, and assorted birds. I'm so pissed because I rarely have game processed so I was stocked with pepperoni sticks and summer sausage! Luckily I shipped off my taxidermy birds last month otherwise I would have lost my birds too! He's gonna get an earful in the morning!

I feel for ya. We lost a freezer full of game a few years back to a power outage. Terrible feeling for sure.

its very possible that he may have gotten more than an earful from me. . . he better do dang good work and for a little less money too. Now you got me thinking about it. . .may have to drive home at lunch to makle sure mines still ok!! lol

This is the second time in 2 years that I've had meat go bad. In 2011, my brand new deep freeze had a bad thermostat and I lost 200lbs of beef when I was on an elk hunting trip. I estimate that I lost about 50lbs of game this time. I'm really glad I opted out of splitting a hog with a friend.

That sucks. I have construction going on right now so power is shut off to the house and garage but we have the first panel from the street on our cottage where my in-laws spend half the year. I had to run extension cords over from the cottage to the garage to feed the freezer. I came home and someone had taken the extension cord feeding the garage to run some tools. Fortunately, I was only 20 minutes behind them and we were still well frozen, but seriously how stupid can they be. It's pretty damn obvious where the power went to.

That Is Really Bad news. What I Have done In The Past Is Hook A Light Bulb To The Outlet That The Appliance Is Plugged In To . If The Bulb Is Out There Is No Power Or The Bulb Is Burned Out

Lost most of an elk a couple years back when a breaker tripped over T-giving while out of town.
