I was lucky to see and photograph a couple of muley bucks sparring right next to the highway last month. I'm glad I had my SLR rigged and ready. It was late afternoon on a very cloudy day, so the lighting is terrible, but the action is still good. It may be called 'sparring' but this looked like a no-holds-barred fight to me.

Looks like a puncture wound on his hindquarter?

Sweet pics!

I saw my first good mule deer battle 2 weeks ago, a phoneskope would have came in real handy.

Awesome action, I'm always surprised that we don't see heaps one eyed deer. I mean really, how do they not poke each other's eyes out? Yarrrr

By the looks of all the loose fur on the side of the one to the left, it looks like he was getting the worst of it. And while they are kicking each other's butt there is a buck in the background in hot pursuit of a hot doe. I think there is a life lesson in there somewhere.

Wow. Looks like it was quite a fight. Great pics!
