#4 spring spot n stalk black bear somewhere in the west
#5 (because it will probably never happen) TN bull elk

But really just enjoy getting outdoors with family and friends, making memories and bringing back good meat. For that, whitetail deer is abundant and widespread, and cow elk tags will be on the docket soon, too. Both are darn good table fare

A bucket list item is making a self bow and taking a deer with it. Just have to get time to do that.

I haven't killed any deer with my self bows yet either, but it's definitely a lot of fun to make them. Good thing to do in the winter.

I’m gonna echo Geetar but would like to request a time machine. Elk from a pack string in the Bob Marshall back in the Copenhaver days & sheep in the unlimited units before folks started making podcasts about the unlimited units.

I'm truly jealous of people who got to experience hunting before marketing and media were involved. I'm 34 years old. It was already being corrupted by the time I was born. I wish I could have hunted sheep in the Jack O'Connor days and mule deer when 30 inch bucks were a normal thing.

I'm definitely not an expert, but I could start a thread that discusses how to start building wooden bows and detailing the common issues that I ran into/that people commonly have questions about if that sounds like something people would be interested in. Seems like a bunch of people want to give it a try but don't know where to start. If I do, I'll try to make it pretty comprehensive so it may take me a while to get around to it.

Excellent. I’d appreciate that. I’ve been thinking I’d use hard maple, laminate a hickory backer on to hold it together, and perhaps something a bit more decorative for the grip. Looking forward to hearing from folks who’ve done it successfully and will probably have a ton of questions.

I get that. My 7 year old daughter asked me recently if I would ever take her on an out of town hunting trip. The day that happens my number one hunting goal will be to see her have an experience that makes her want to do it again and again.

Been awhile since I visited the forum. Here’s my short list.

Washington California bighorn. I have 30 points, but would need some help from above to draw
Also, a heavy mature blacktail. The big bucks are a ghost, and just seeing one during season is rare.

I’ve been lucky in Washington drawing moose, goat, and a rut rifle tag for Roosevelt elk on the coast.
Anything else I draw is just a bonus.
