To compensate, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks proposed issuing only 500 archery-only pronghorn hunting permits in Region 3
What does this mean since it’s a statewide 900 tag? I understand the following portion about certain districts in 3 not being eligible for the archery only hunt opportunity but how are they limiting the 500 in those areas? Call-in quota?
Even at that distance animals can jump the string.Probably has a lot to do with being "lucky"

Bowhunting is just a poor way to kill critters.

Me too, unfortunately. I make myself remember these situations that I chose every time I go out. I think twice and three times now before any shot. The animal deserves it IMO.I love bowhunting, but it takes a big toll in MT, particularly for antelope and elk. I’m amazed at how many guys I talk to that don’t seem to have any concern about flinging arrows and wounding. Im not going to be a total hypocrite. I’ve wounded before with quick shot opportunities I shouldn’t have taken and felt pretty shitty about it.
How many did you wound before you came to this opinion? Be honestEven at that distance animals can jump the string.
