I figured I’d start a thread to keep track of public comment opportunities related to BLM’s horse management plans. Please let your voices be heard!!!

Am I doing the math wrong…..that pencils out to 24-40 times cow/calf BLM monthly paymentsI had plans to do enroll in the program that lets private landowners "foster" horses for $2-$3 per horse per day, so I'm a little miffed about it, honestly. That program will probably wind up getting scrapped. If y'all aren't familiar with it you should look it up, it was solid.

Thats a LOT of money for what i could solve for under a dollar per horse, permanently. It was a very good program. The catch was that you had to be able to take several trailer loads of horses at once (100+ horses), and the land had to be able to support them as free roaming. Had to be set up with a corral and unloading area, etc. There were a lot of stipulations but wasn't impossible by any means, there were more than a few people enrolled and participating when I talked to BLM about it a few years ago.
now thats what I'm talking aboutThats a LOT of money for what i could solve for under a dollar per horse, permanently.

BLM spends over $100 million per year on that fostering program. Total waste, does nothing to resolve the issue, and completely unsustainable IMO.

Done!
I got the same certified letter. Lol.I have written comments for a couple of the BLM proposed round ups. I received a certified letter letting me know of the decision on one of them. Was curious why I was getting a certified letter from the DOI, turned out it was just to notify me of the decision. I had to go down to the PO to pick it up. Talk about a waste of money and resources, having to mail out certified letters to everyone that submitted a comment. And then my time to have to go down and wait in line to pick it up. Just to find out that it was the same information I had already seen online.
I will keep commenting in support of the feral horse and burro reductions though! Get them animals off the landscape!
