Talk about frustration. Put the transfer case back together this morning. Everything that could have leaked was replaced. The old shift motor was not replaced. Drove it down the road 1/4 of a mile and tested the 4x4.

Shift motor died and won't shift back to 2wd. Got back to the house and damn thing is dripping fluid from the motor casing.

The shift motor doesn’t have an oil supply, it is separated by that o-ring I had to replace from the oil.

Took the motor off and popped the cover off. It was full of residual oil. Once off the transfer case was clean with no leak. That o-ring was definitely the issue.

Got on Rock Auto and ordered a brand new one. It will be here Wednesday.

Hey @Addicting I’m a “if one is good, two are better” kind of guy when it comes to strapping down coolers going on long drives. One lengthwise, one front to back.

It already has two straps on it. But I suppose a third wouldn’t hurt. That whole mess is held together with rivets on the bottom.

Hmmm, lost engine power the last 20 min of the drive. Made it to the campsite. Will idle fine without any codes. Runs under 3000 rpm but doesn’t have any top end power. No extra noises from the engine. Almost like the exhaust is plugged or it’s starving for fuel.

Let it cool off and it’s still low on power. Took it scouting tonight and it seemed to be fine. I’m wondering if I didn’t get a bad batch of fuel. It ran fine before the least fill up.

Might be worth a shot to burn some down to half a tank or so then top off with fresh from a different station to dilute the bad gas. Probably a good idea to pick up a spare fuel filter for the heck of it.

The fuel tanker was leaving as I was leaving. I bet the fuel was all stirred up and had crap in it.

Had a couple bull talking tonight and she got me in and out of the area I wanted to go to. So I guess it could be worse.

Burb ran fine this morning for 3 hours of abuse. Driving what are classified as “roads” looking at dry water holes. It so dry here it’s ridiculous. This glory hunt is looking a lot more like camping out on whatever water hole still has liquid.
