Taking the wife to SLC on Tuesday to see a specialist, quick turn and back on Wednesday.
This is only for a consultation. If they decide they can fix her hip then will be a 5 day stay down there. Anybody know where I might find a beverage close to U of U Medical Center?
Haven't been to SLC for 36 years.

How close to the U do you need it be? I live here in SLC and have sampled many establishments...

As close as possible for just Tuesday night. If we go back and she gets to have the surgery then I can venture out a little during the 5 days but, would just as soon be within walking distance of an establishment. I would be in the hospital if I had to call her and say, "Honey, I am in jail."

I think that the closest place is the Market Street Broiler, but it is a semi-fancy restaurant.

It is still a pretty good walk from the hospital. The hospital is unfortunately isolated in the north east corner against the mountains. With the school right there in combination with Utah's awesome liquor laws, there isn't much close. I know that there is a restaurant on the 6th floor of the Huntsman Cancer Center that is open to the public, but I don't think that they serve alcohol.

Nice find DD, I have never been there.

idnative1948- DD hit the nail on the head with the Bayou, if you make it downtown. They have about every beer you can imagine. All the places DD mentioned also serves food. If you are looking for a bar, I specialize in dives, try X Wife's, Republican, Murphy's, Twilite Lounge, or Cheers to You.

Thanks DD! That may just work for this trip.
Wimm, I too, have a PhD in dive bars. Most just friendlier I think and generally pour a better drink.
