I have a 2023 F150 Tremor I got used for $52k (with gen 2 deck system and leer canopy). It does pretty darn well.
My 2013 stock 4Runner goes a lot of places too.

I saw a new FWP truck out and about the other day, and they’re getting the bare bones F250 XL in a gas V8, with the off road package. You can still get that with a 4.30 rear axle with a selectable locker. There’s a damn good chance that something like that will be my next truck, it makes a lot of sense. Basic but capable.

I think you would just about have to special order, but it might be worth it. It’s impossible to find basic work trucks on a dealer lot.
Looking online you can build one with those exact options.
I bought a used 2024 Nissan Titan Pro4x base model. Doesn't have any of the sunroof or upgraded stereo or heater/cooled anything. No turbos, no auto stop/start, no cylinder deactivation just a 400hp v8. Locker and off-road package and nothing I don't need or hasn't been proven. I beat the shit out of my last Titan for 200k miles with zero issues(and I hit a moose with it) and this one has been perfect for the first 35k miles. And they're cheaper than other full-size

Obviously the recall was a huge red flag but now that they've worked out the production kinks, it appears that the new engine is doing just fine. Time will tell if it's anywhere close to the legendary 4.7 and 5.7, I think that's a really big ask, but I would bet they still end up being 200-300k mile engines. Turbos are a big headache and something just feels wrong about not having a v8 in a half ton, but I don't see it being any worse than what Detroit is putting out.

F150 with the 5.0 engine.
My ‘16 Tundra 5.7 is still treating me well. Tonight will be #580 sleeping in the back seat and we will hit 205,000 sometime tomorrow. Nice piece of BLM just outside of Roundup. Close enough to town that the current administration might want to give it away.

Crossed 50k in my 2022 a few weeks back. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.
I had 3 frontiers when I was working in the city and it was too much trouble to park a full size. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend one unless you’re doing it for gas mileage, virtually no difference.

07, 12, 16 so all that one body style/drivetrain. You can find them fairly reasonable, may even luck up on a pro4x. All of mine were crew cab, not much space in the extended ones

I really like my ‘21. Only thing that might steer folks away is they aren’t making them anymore, or at least for the near future.
There are a few minor annoyances that I have, but like you said, you can get into them cheaper than most other rigs
