Best musician ever

Mike Campbell and Benjamin Montmorency Tench 'Benmont' have to be mentioned...they and Petty's stylistics, writing, and showmanship were the backbone of the Heartbreakers.

Saw Frank & the Mothers with Zubin Mehta and the LA Philharmonic @ the Bowl one year, pretty good music...
I saw Frank several times , he was a virtuoso , IMO . One time someone threw a bottle on stage and he stopped the concert and had him thrown out . He gave a little speech about how the audience should just shut up and enjoy the music and if anybody throws anything else he will end the concert .
Five minutes into the next song someone threw a glow stick on stage , he dropped the mike and left , 35 minutes into his concert . Downtown Detroit , Cobo Hall , I want to say 78 or 79 .
There was a lot of pissed off mofo's , fights everywhere in the parking lot , crazy times , back in the day .

A show at the LB arena got testy. He called in his bros from LASO and Monrovia Angels and they removed the whole front section. An Hour later , On Ruth...
....Frank had a studio off 66 in Monrovia and a buddy & I would cruize the alley in his 38' Plymouth ragtop, park in the alley and enjoy the show.
Frank came out once and sounded us on drinking beer and burning one in his back yard. Pete introduced his local neighborhood watch, the local Hell's Angels. He smiled and gave us a stack of tickets. Went to a dozen concerts.
I drank coffee and smoked a butt with him one night. Guy was a encyclopedia.
