I was in CDA a couple months ago and explored north. Messy Burgers in Spirit Lake (25 miles) was awesome. Two thumbs up on the Drunken Cowboy.

Yup. Hudson's. No fries, don't ask. I suggest trying the dessert burger... it's just like the one you just finished eating.
