Three of us drew Wyoming cow elk tags. While we have hunted several western states in the past, this will be our first hunt in grizzly country. After you get an elk on the ground, do you have procedures or methods to enhance your safety : 1) If you are alone 2) if you have a buddy with you ?
 
Safety in numbers. Don't hunt alone or process that animal alone. Check with G&F on bear activity in your area when you come out to hunt.
 
If I'm alone, I keep my bearspray and rifle ready. The "dinnerbell" thing isn't a story.
 
Listen to the MeatEater "Meat Tree" podcasts and pay attention to what they did, what they didn't do, and the mistakes they said they made in hindsight...
