Be Careful out there- CO Hunter dies from fall

I was sorta, kinda close to being the subject of that kind of article. On my second trip in for sheep with BOY, we finally spotted some sheep. I stayed put while boy headed to camp to get the second spotter on them from there. He then radio'd me to come to camp. I didn't drop quite low enough on my trip back. Things didn't look quite right, as I was sidehilling across a slope so I moved down about 6 feet to a tree to take a look. I held on to the side of the tree and peaked around, only to find that the tree was growing on the very, very edge of a cliff! One of the few times I've been actually spooked while hunting. Super glad it was still daylight.

Wow. Big wake up call for those of us hunting goats this year. They live in scary steep country, that's for sure.

Very sad for the hunter and his family.

Been thinking about this and just pulled the trigger on an InReach Communicator. Some of the cliffs that I'll be hunting on the communicator wouldn't help me one way or the other, but for the $$ it might be a difference maker if I end up in a bad situation and would save the 1 - 2 hours to get to cell phone reception.

That is so sad. I had a very close call on my goat hunt. Going up was ok, but coming down in the dark was another story. Be safe out there!
