Its certainly not something you cant snap out of. Big lesson learned moving forward. Not that someone is to blame just circumstances.
 
Allowing the packers to consolidate power and reap the profits, vs passing some on to the producers has been an issue for decades.
True, but I heard producers were certainly seeing some benefit. Now they have to determine how may to sell vs keep to rebuild the herd. And as Randy’s podcast points out, the deer are trying to rebuild populations on the same land. These weather events are simply unpredictable even though we know we are going to get them more frequently.
 
IMO cattle ranching is generally beneficial to and consistent with wildlife habitat, moreso than mining, gas/oil, residential and industrial development. Meanwhile the vast majority of Colorado river water in upper basin states is used to irrigate livestock feed, nearly as water wasteful as almond farming.
