It’s late in the game here in Missouri and I’ve been trying hard to fill my buck tags on the right buck.
Well last night I had a buck come in at last shooting light. I had to let him clear the neighbors fence and gave him about 30 yards before I shot.
I had no idea what buck he was, I just saw his frame and knew I wanted to shoot him.
Well once I got settled back in my pocket, I went kinda silly. Didn’t do the best at follow through and torqued my bow pretty good. I instantly heard the basketball “POP” and knew I hit back.
I watched the buck run approx 50 yards and bed down. I waited about an hour until it was super dark out, climbed down, and backed out.
I let him lay all night and went searching after my work morning meeting.
He never even left the first bed. I was so dang happy when I walked up on him.
He’s a cool character buck, one of my most unique, and my biggest MO buck.
If you haven’t learned the hard way before, take it from the people who always say it based off experience. When in doubt, back out.
Meats good, rack is going to look great on the wall, and I still have a few more days of season left.
