The last couple days I've had some serious fun catching white bass in the Aqua Fria.

Went friday with one of my buddies and we kept 54 white bass. Went back this morning after fileting fish until 11:00 PM and in 2 hours we caught 27 more whitebass and a striper about 30 inches.

All the AZ people on this board and nobody is fishing white bass? I cant believe it.

Buzz as a general rule there are no fish in the Agua Fria,,,however there are leftover ponds that can be full of fish [south of lake pleasant].The river was rippin in the last couple of weeks, from all of the rain and is still flowing at a moderate rate........The white bass are a blast and can be found north of the lake in the river [at times spawning]... Just wondering where you guys were at?.. We used to catch leftover trout in the river years ago[mostly in ponds] because the Agua fria does not normaly flow year around [its dry] But i`m glad you found a good spot and are having some fun...how do you like the weather? :)......Just so you don`t take this the wrong way...What i`m saying is that any fish that are in the river... have originated in Lake Pleasant and are not "normaly" in the river... And yes we do fish for White bass....they are fighting liitle suckers...1-2 lbs....catch any big ones? :)

cjcj, you are right, the aqua fria flows for only a short time. We fished off the end of the Table Mesa road in the river, which normally isnt there. The bass are just running up to spawn. My buddy works for the AZ game and fish and is a fisheries biologist, so I know a little about the white bass. May try to catch some yellow bass in a week or two.

One of your local resident knuckle-heads tried crossing the river and his truck is now about mid-stream with water flowing freely through the cab. No shortage of ass clowns in AZ.

Most of the white bass were right in the 1-1 1/2 pound range a few that would push 2 pounds. Great eating fish and the best part is...NO LIMIT.

Oh, and the weather has been perfect, but I'm sure it will be too warm for me in a couple weeks.

Hey Buzz i know your Buddies boss real well [Roger Sorenson}...we go back a long, long way. Glad you are having a good time...You caught the river and the white bass at a "perfect" time.......yep plenty of assclowns have gotten stuck in the last months rain waters....we see it all of the time.

We catch alot of whites in the castle creek, coles bay and humbug arms in the creek channels year around spooning or throwing jerk baits while fishing for the Largemouth bass.
One of the best ways is to net a bunch of live shad and fish them under lights at night We had a few 100+ fish nights last spring on pleasant.

2fastnaz,

Let me know if you do.If you dont mind maybe I could join you if you dont mind. Drop me a PM.

The river arm is there every year this time when the cap fills the lake back up .
boats cant get back to it due to the eagle closures at the main lake, when it opens back up in june it also goes way way back there. its pounded by boats and bass fishermen. I fish it every year and most of my tourny fishing is done in there.

I dont fish for white bass cause I dont like fresh water fish to eat.
The place is awsum for catching them along with stripers as well.
ever year about this time the whites go up to the end and spawn, when the rains are here and its flowing the white bass look like a salmon run.

are you in town Buzz?

Delw

With this weather heating up.... the crappie should be jumping in the boat all by themselves in a couple of weeks.
