Archery hunter going rifle hunting need help???

Hey guys I am an avid archery hunter and have not ever hunted elk with a rifle. I am going to try out 2 guns I inherited at the range and need ammo suggestions, I.E. Brand, grain, etc... I have a 280 and a 7mm single shot. Both very nice guns but I have no idea what ammo I should purchase.....Thanks Bambam

PS- I am hunting brow tined bull in Montana. no cow tag.

We've had great luck on elk with both the Barnes TSX bullet in a Federal premium load (.30-06) and the Hornady superformance GMX in .308. Both those loads should exist for your calibers from one of those brands. Good luck on your hunt.
