April Showers.

1.5" starting at 3am this morning...83 or so high. Tolerable.
Saw there was some heavy rains out your way...I wish.

Looks like high 80's for the week and storms building to the east. At least it's not 90's and above 100...unbearable for me now.

The watering of my house area pinions has helped. The yellow tops and ends of branches has turned to pollen cones lower developing and the tops are pushing new growth. Moisture allows them to push more sap and kills the IPPs beetle.

One perfect Christmas tree pinion, 12ft tall, just died in a week. Trees next to it fine.
Neighbors have lost whole groves.

Come on monsoons!!!!

Finally.
2nd downpour of the afternoon.
In between I went and got a big fresh bale of alfalfa and got it unloaded...boots 2 inches high and they come undone as I get back to the truck.

Elk out feeding in open midday. Looking sleek now that the winter coats are gone. Still thin.

14 fires going in NM, lightning strikes.

Not sure where exactly your place is but I've heard you mention Pietown in the past. There looked to be some good showers and storms there yesterday and again today. I didn't realize how long the drought has been going on there, until I looked at the drought monitor. After 2 years of drought you are guys are overdue for some beneficial rain

Good to hear about the rain.

Not so much about the skinny elk and fires.

I’ve somehow been missing your posts, always look forward to reading your observations.

Half a dozen short downpours more. One good one.
Puddles. Lightning.

Dotti has the evening watch on the porch. She just warned of an elk herd heading down for food and water.
They stay 100 yards out, kicking hooves free of mud. Playing.

Sunny next week before the next bout. Enough time for the gramma to grow. Enough water to grow. Now.

Another doozy. Power out, for some.
Not us.

Video chat with oncologist tomorrow. All blood work looks good. PSA still .02..................
I'll start the morning with a looksee.

Guess is 1/2"...I'll check later. Muddy.

The elk went south, tracks headed there, due to yote factor down below. After prairie dogs...the only thing they seem to try for.

Nothing hit the hay. The young cows knew trouble was down there.
Plenty of water in bedding areas I imagine.

Extreme fire winds thru Sun. Blowing already so the mud will be short lived.
Getting very smokey from the UT Beaver fire, a bad one.

Land based tornado hit Los Lunas, some damage. Bizzare.
Fence line rains, lucky some came inside my fence.

Oh yeah, it's Sat. No Dr. til Tues. LOL
