Any hockey fans out there?

On one of the main hockey channels here said this new rule might take effect this upcoming season. The NHL is looking at stopping these players demanding trades while they have a NMC. How they plan to stop it is the following(apparently): If the player initiates the trade, they will no longer be protected by the NMC and will have to forfeit 30% of the remaining contacts worth. The cap hit will remain the same though for the team that player goes to.

I like it but it won't pass.

Seems like a very complex system and one under which player and team can’t have forthright conversations. Best to just sign new contracts without NMC, at least until the last couple of years if it’s a long contract.
