Any hockey fans out there?

Wild fans seem to flip between being ecstatic after wins to complete dispair after losses. Odd that the criticism is after a win. Hughes played 37min. Impossible not to make a misread or two in that amount of time.
As an Avs fan, I think I'd rather see the Wild in the next round than the Stars. Both are going to be battles.

My issue is more second round being divisional vs conference ranking. That’s especially problematic in the west this year.
I agree. I love the first round setup and look at all the amazing series it has created this year. I wouldn't want that to go away.

The next round though I feel the conference champ shouldn't have to potentionally face the next best opponent

There are great series, they just shouldn’t happen in first round. Now you have some top teams not playing for a week and others in a dog fight. That just creates an excuse to complain if a team loses. One team is beat up by playing a 6-7 game series and the other feels like they go cold not playing. This is Bettman’s baby and fans generally hate it. It might incentivize teams to tank to get lower seed. It will happen eventually.

Having Tampa and Montreal play against each other should be a crime lol. I want a Montreal/Boston series

It is only 3 rounds to get to the final and you need to beat the best any ways in those three rounds regardless.

Worst case you have the 2nd and 3rd best playing each other and than the winner gets the best. Exact same scenario would happen round 2 and 3 so what's the big deal when its round 1 and 2 instead? When you beat and torn from those hard first two rounds and now get an "easier" round 3 id consider that a blessing going into the final.

Yes, reward the #2 and #3 point earners in the conference for their efforts by putting them up against each other in the first round to kick the sh!t out of each other. Meanwhile the #4 plays the #7 and the #5 plays the #6.

Makes total sense and is definitely better for the game and overall playoff structure. (sarcasm)

SMDH.

The playoffs should be set up to crescendo as it advances, not blow its load in the first round so Bettman can have division rivals play early on. It makes it more advantageous to win less games and earn less points in the regular season. How the hell does that make sense?

So you would rather as a fan see 4 series in the first round just go only to game 4 or 5 rather than the 2 series we have now? I want 6 and 7 game series the entire way - all rounds, all matchups.

Im a Wild fan by the way and right at the heart of this just like the Star, Lightning and Montreal fans. Im loving every minute of it and whoever wins the series im putting my money on to beat Colorado just based on how this series is preparing them for it. That winner is likely cup bound.

So as a fan you DON"T want to see the best playing the best in later rounds? If so I agree with why you are happy.

Yes 100%.
The current playoff structure disincentivizes teams from performing in the regular season. I would rather see the best teams play each other in the semi and conference finals. Not have a legit Stanley Cup contender out in the first round.

I disagree. This is a small tournament, just 8 teams total since we are only talking about how the conference gets broken out for seeding. In almost all scenarios that have played out over the years, the number 1 seed always plays the 8 based on end of season points. There is a huge incentive to win the conference during the season so I dont see the disincentive because you want to be the 1 seed and you really really really dont want to be the 8 seed.

The #2 seed should never play the #3 seed in the first round of any tournament in the history of the world. D-U-M-B!!!
