Any hockey fans out there?

Wish I had the time to go, too much going on...first Frozen Four game is set, NoDak against WI in Vegas on thursday.

NoDak made quick work of Quinnipiac, might be their best game of the year. Freshman goalie Spunar had shutouts in both regional games.

Hope the Bulldogs can take down the Wolverines today.

I've enjoyed going to most of the home games for the junior player I’m billeting for. He and I went to a game last night for our local semi-pro team (they call it “professional beer league”). Supposedly former D1 college players and minor league guys. I’d put our junior team up against them any day for a major route. Lots of alpha-male aggression, but the quality of the hockey was nothing compared to high level juniors.

Bulldogs gave the wolverines a fight towards the end just weren't able to tie it up.

NoDak, Wi, Denver and Michigan..all teams with storied histories...in the frozen four this year.

About as blue blood as it comes.

Should be a few good games.

No matter who wins, the bums at the University of Minnesota lose! Always a good outcome.

Got to see noted outdoorsman Connor Hellebuyck shut down my Avs over the weekend and sat right next to the Jets penalty box. At least my wife and her Manitoban relatives were pleased.

I hope with the next NHL CBA negotiation they get rid of this current playoff system. No team in the Pacific Division has played well enough to be in the playoffs. Also having 2 teams faceoff each other in the first round that could be in the finals is frustrating.

My Saturday will be the internal family battle we were hoping for. My Badgers against my daughter's Pioneers.

She has already set the terms for watching (her patio, so an Away game for me :) )

It's also Turkey opener here, and have to get downtown for the Avs game at 7:00. Sunday morning will be unpleasant, I think.

Both the NCAA games last night were fantastic hockey.

Friday hot take on the pacific. Pretty sure those four teams earned the right to be there. I would rather they go back to 1-8 seeding. I think everyone would. Still, looking forward to playoff hockey.

New format which is floating around is top 16 teams overall make it in. The fact that 90 points wins a division in the Western Conference is a joke when 96 points in the East makes you a wild card team

That is just how conference/division play works? The only apples-to-apples way to compare is a true round robin like in soccer. Maybe do away with divisions, then play 2H/2A against every conference opponent plus 1H/1A against every team in the other conference, for a total of 92 games.

Points doesn't necessarily equal ability. Higher difference between the top and bottom in the West versus more parity in the East probably boosts the top, but the middle in West is stronger than East. Can't get behind the Top 16 for that reason alone. Top 8 in each is best approach.
