Any handy tips on how to separate nested chimney pipe without damaging?

Did a burn-in of our new davis stove and have 2 segments that seem to want to be 1. Any old-timer (or young-timer) tricks of the trade?

hold it horizonal to a cement floor or sidewalk and drop it. Or tap it with hammer.

Sometimes if you drop it on its side on the grass they will loosen right up. Drop from waist level don’t throw

My typical action as well... the flexing on grass will usually break the soot that bound my chimney pipes
