I am wondering if anyone else has had the same experience with alps mountaineering claiming their advertised tent warranty does not apply to nylon tents.

I Bought a tent from Alps Mountaineering this year. In the $500-$1000 price range. Second weekend hunting with it I encountered a moderate rain in the evening. immediately had water steadily running down the wall from 3 of the 4 window seams. After 20 minutes of rain had about 2 cups of water collected under 3 of the windows. I used towels to soak it up. The next morning I went hunting. A moderate 8-10 mph breeze kicked up for about an hour. Came back at noon to move locations and found every single stake ring had pulled off of the tent. Thankfully the rainfly held it from taking off, although that was the only part of the tent attached to the ground.

Following monday I called alps mountaineering. Went to voice mail 3 times during the business hours. Sent an email. Following friday no response yet. Called again. Did receive a person who told me they had not checked their email all week and they would email me back. This past monday i received an email stating rain intrusion through seams is normal and if i want a tent that does not leak in the rain i should "buy one with a full rain fly". I was told i could buy each piece of stake rings for nearly $3 each plus shipping and handling. There are 10 on this tent that broke from 8-10 mph wind. I sent an email back same day (monday morning) asking if their warranty covers deffective stake rings and pole hardware. I also asked about their claim of buying a tent with a full rain fly when both their website and the package claim this tent has a full rain fly.

I called again 2x today and went straight to voice mail.

Only sense I can make of this is they have 2 part time customer service employees. One works every other monday to answer emails, and one works on fridays to answer the phone.

Which tent did you buy?

That really sucks. I've used Alps OutdoorZ stuff for a number of years in the past because we had a discount through Boy Scouts. Haven't bought anything in a number of years, but still use a couple mummy bags and one tent from them. We had a pack that my son used that had a broken buckle and they were easy to deal with and sent a new one quickly. I don't know if Alps Mountaineering has different customer service that the Outdoorz side or if all of it has changed over the years. It's been probably 5 years since I dealt with them.

@Wyoming270 hasn't replied as to which tent he bought. Going to the Alps website, there isn't a single tent over $360 in their offerings. So .... Bot or liar?
Your quite the internet debunker...

They must be having a hard time with shipments from china this year. all of their larger tents are showing out of stock on their website.

Knee deep snow, 10% grade, two wheel drive…
The rest of that explanation went right over your head:

8,000 lbs

A particular tire size with a certain snow tread

Limited slip differential

Extreme ground clearance

Lockers

We did not need to put it in 4wd to get through a knee high drift crawling up a 10% slope. we were not getting any independant wheel slip. We did have issues with a previous tire size and tread pattern. The 4wd and lockers came in great when we got to the steep portions and the ice.

Those factors mean a lot. At that angle a lot of weight is working to plant those rear tires down on the granite. Having the torque to match that means lots of power and lots of grip without high rpms to spin the wheels. Lots of wranglers get stuck in drifts that longer, taller, heavier rigs go right through here.

If you guys want to stalk each other or play tummy sticks, do it in your PMs.

We don’t need it in the threads.

It’s hunting season….. don’t bring in the off season nonsense.
Ive been asking the mods for a while. Still get the same 3 stalking me on every thread.

I don’t know what’s so impressive about that, I did it once in an old Toyota T100 when the transfer case wouldn’t engage. With a couple running starts at it. With chains. Full throttle. Bouncing off a couple trees along the way…
No one said its impressive. They guy took part of a long explanation off of a thread weeks ago and follows me around reposting it. Mods wont intervene.

Sometimes people like you confuse me.
You report the thread, I come in to intervene, and then you have something to say about mods not intervening.
I also did it in a way that made it look like you didn’t report anything so you didn’t get flamed.

So if that’s how you want to do this; I’ll play.

Looking at your last 5 reports, your comments said “useless post.”
I’m not sure how a mod or admin is supposed to know that you are having problems with people harassing you or following you around if you don’t use your words.

So if you have specific issues, put context into your report, or feel free to PM us with more details.

There are plenty of people on this page who can vouch that we won’t tolerate certain behaviors and there are a lot more who are no longer (banned) with us because they were the ones causing the issues.

Here is the best advice I can give you. You’ve been around a little less than two months….. remain consistent, establish your credibility, and don’t let online people you’ll never meet ruin your day.

Block them, ignore them, thicken up, etc.

If it gets malicious, full blown trolling, or extremely out of hand, then people will get banned.

I hope this helps.

You missed a couple sentences on my only FOUR reports.
