Alaska Super Seven Big Game Raffle/Brown Bear

When we were in position I could only see the top of the bear’s head and part of his shoulder as he was sound asleep on the other side of the whale. My first shot hit him in the shoulder and I don’t even think he knew what happened. I shot 3 more times and he dropped behind the whale where we couldn’t see him. We crossed a small river and this is what I saw when I walked around the whale.

Congratulations @ashersdad
That does seem to be a huge bear and a tremendous opportunity. You did luck out to not get the stink of the whale.
Thanks for sharing the pics with us.

Surprisingly there was no smell. He had only got some blubber off of the whale and hadn't broken into in yet. The whale must have been pretty fresh because there was hardly any smell to it either. I lucked out I think.
That's good to hear! I've put fish guts at a bait site before, which turned out to be a bad idea. Stunk to high hell and the younger bears kept rolling in them 🙄 I doubt a coastal brown bear would do that though!
