looking for recommendations for non-insulated leather hiking boot with an "air bob" type sole. Tried danners, toe box too narrow. Asolos fit my foot and hold up well but don't think they offer an air bob type sole.

Why air bob and not vibram?

This. If you are planning on using them in rocky environments the Vibram is far better. If you're in dirt/clay then they should hold up a little better.

Agree, AirBobs are not that great. Just an FYI, unless Danner changed, they will not warranty an AirBob sole if they determine you use it in "rocky" terrain. It rips the bobs off, and they don't care. That and their boots are total garbage...

If you get in a situation that requires more than a Vibram type sole, you probably need micro-spikes. If you've never heard of or used them... Look them up. They live in my pack once the snow hits, and are mandatory for some places just to get in/out of.
