Diabetics and borderline diabetics might want to read the ingredients lists on spices, especially blends and rubs. One of the main ingredients to all spices is sugar followed by either sulfur dioxide or silicone dioxide. Sugar is listed in many as the first ingredient indicating it is likely one of the main ingredients. If you think you are getting a pure spice container, odds are you are not. Blends are even worse, many of the commercial ones are either mostly salt or mostly sugar with very little of the spices you think you are getting. Don't believe me, read the ingredients on the label.
When I buy spices, I like to get the pure spice, nothing added and that is not always easy to achieve. That is what happens when we get to over-centralization of the food supply.
