I got this in my email today and I think it makes some good points...

Things that make you think a little:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.
In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the
month of January. That's just one American city,

about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq.

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't
have started this war, state the following:

a. FDR led us into World War II.

b. Germany never attacked us; Japan did.
From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ...
an average of 112,500 per year.

c. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea.
North Korea never attacked us.
From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ...
an average of 18,334 per year.

d John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
Vietnam never attacked us.

e. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ..
an average of 5,800 per year.

f. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
Bosnia never attacked us.
He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three
times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on
multiple occasions.

g. In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush
has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled
al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North
Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who
slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking.
But ..

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno
to take the Branch Davidian compound.
That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons
in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find
the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the
Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard
than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his
Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick

It took less time to take Iraq than it took
to count the votes in Florida!!!!

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB!
The Military morale is high!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant
to realize the facts

But Wait . there's more!

JOHN GLENN (ON THE SENATE FLOOR)
Mon, 26 Jan 2004 11:13

Some people still don't understand why military personnel
do what they do for a living. This exchange between
Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum
is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive
impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one
man's explanation of why men and women in the armed
services do what they do for a living.

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what
some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):
"How can you run for Senate
when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio):
"I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps.
I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions.
My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different
occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my
checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was
not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the
daily cash receipts to the bank."

"I ask you to go with me ... as I went the other day...
to a veteran's hospital and look those men ...
with their mangled bodies in the eye, and tell THEM
they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program at NASA
and go, as I have gone, to the widows and Orphans
of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee...
and you look those kids in the eye and tell them

that their DADS didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in
Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends
buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch
those waving flags

You stand there, and you think about this nation,
and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job?

What about you?"

For those who don't remember .
During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney
representing the Communist Party in the USA.

Now he's a Senator!

If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you are reading it in English thank a Veteran.

It is funny to see how gulliable and easily misled people like Cathunt are. They haven't a clue on what they are reading nor the ability to process what they read, and instead, they just believe whatever is on the Bumper Sticker (or e-mail) on the '74 AMC Pacer in front of them.

Look how dumb Cathunt is to believe that in the month of January there were only 35 casualties in Dubya's War for Oil.
Period Fatalities

Jan-04 47

Jan-05 107

Jan-06 62

And then even funnier is for Cathunt to somehow magically believe that John Glenn made the speech to Senator Metzenbaum on the Senate floor in Jan- 2004. Which was pretty amazing, since John Glenn left the Senate in 1999 and Metzenbaum left the Senate in 1995.

I think it is pretty obvious that Cathunt isn't the brightest bulb and he is pretty much unable to think for himself.

But wait, Cathunt obviously can't read a newspaper but, instead relies on e-mails to provide him with commentary like this
In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush
has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled
al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North
Korea
Hey CAtHunt, do you really think the Taliban is "crushed"?
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Taliban forces fighting U.S. troops in Afghanistan have grown stronger and more sophisticated, and are directing operations from neighboring Pakistan, a senior U.S. commander said on Wednesday.

More than four years into the war in Afghanistan, an operation often overshadowed by the focus on Iraq, the top U.S. commander there said the Taliban has grown in the south and reconstituted itself elsewhere. It is displaying better military command and its leaders remain elusive, he said.

"The fact remains that we're up against an enemy that is able to operate very effectively on both sides of the border," Lt. Gen. Karl Eikenberry said in testimony to U.S. lawmakers. "There's areas that they're able to stay within and to direct combat operations against ourselves and against the Afghan National Army."

And can you tell us about the Nuclear Inspectors Bush has put in Iran and North Korea????

This is funny here:

"It took less time to take Iraq than it took
to count the votes in Florida!!!!"

What? We "took" Iraq? Yep, missioned accomplished all right. How many people have died since "mission accomplished"...how much money has been spent since "mission accomplished".

"Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB!"

Really?

Not according to every major poll in the united states and all but the most foolish Americans. Our foreign policy is horrible, gas prices are ridiculous, inflation is climbing, national deficit is the highest its been ever, Stock Market is flatter than a pancake, civil liberties have been stripped left and right by this administration, they think peddling public lands is a solution to budget short-falls, environmental policy absolutely sucks, etc. etc.

Not sure how that translates into a "good" job.

Thats some pretty 'funny' stats.

I agree, I wonder how those new-cle-ar inspections are going in North Korea and Iran.

I got this in my email today and I think it makes some good points...
Maybe you dont know how to read Jose  did I say all  I think the big thing is everyone looks at what the press tells you. And they dont tell you nothing positive about what is going on over there. The people that Die over there are doing it so your dumb ASS can sit and type on your puter about how shitty thing are. MORE people die in the USA everyday then over in Iraq. And if we were to fight this over here what do you think them #'s would be. I have four Friends over there right now, And I thank them every chance I get. The funny thing is they feel they are doing good. So i told them not to turn on the TV the press is the ones we should be fighting....

Jose are you saying the exchange between Metzenbaum
& Glenn never happened?...or simply quibbling over when it happened?

Maybe you should go do some looking befor you open your mouth!!!!!!

Subject: Great answer by Senator Glenn

Ladies and gentlemen,

Here's a small indication of what the military person runs up against in the beltway of our capital. No wonder we have so many problems in Washington....

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu speech, but its also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the uniformed services do what they do for a living. You go with me to the space program and go as I have gone to the widows and orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their dad didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day, coming up, and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends than I'd like to remember and you watch those waving flags. You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you tell me that those people didn't have a job, I'll tell you, Howard Metzenbaum, you should be on your knees every day of your life thanking God that there were some men - SOME MEN - who held a job. And they required a dedication to purpose, a love of country and a dedication to duty that was more important than life itself. And their self sacrifice is what made this country possible..... I HAVE HELD A JOB, HOWARD! What about you?"

So, instead of reading/hearing what the Press reports, one should look for stupid e-mails to be delivered to their in-box to find out what to believe about the War for Oil?

LMAO....

I am saying the "exchange" that CAthunt claims took place on the floor of the Senate in 2004 between Glenn and Metzenbaum NEVER took place in 2004 nor did it EVER take place on the Senate floor. Only someone like CAthunt who doesn't look to the "press" for his news, but instead, looks to his e-mail for his news would think so.

It is pretty clear that Cathunt is easily duped and misled by whatever comes into his e-mail box. Net thing you know he will be re-financing his house to buy more blue pills for his dysfunctions and free software titles....

CAthunt,
Where do you make this garbage up??? Could you please provide me the cases where Metzenbaul represented the Communist Party in the USA?

Cathunt MT said:
glad you could answer that question.
And I gave you that link.

Yeah, and the link says the "exchange" never took place as you claimed. The link proves you were passing along bullchit and you weren't smart enough to understand what some 4th grader sent you.

Still waiting for those cases where Metzenbaum represented the Communist Party..... Struggling to find those are you???

Hey CAthunt,
How are them Nuke inspectors in Iran doing??? How about them Nuke inspectors in North Korea???

Maybe we should go back to the top, and you list the "good points" that you agree with in that pile of crap you posted, and then we can make fun of you point by point. Would that be easier on you?

Jose, even though any display of patriotism or national pride is beneath your intellectual sensitivities, I'm wishing you & yours a happy 4th.
