This reminds me of my teaching days when I would start doing multiplication problems on the blackboard in base-8 rather than base-10 just for kicks while my students were doing other work. Soon I heard behind me, "Uh, thaaaaat's not right." Of course it's right, I'm the teacher.

The sad thing about that is we were messing with base 8, base 6, etc. in 6th grade, and more so in 7th, and not just in class, but just for fun. Now kids can't even do basic math. Where did we go wrong?
