It hurts to think of what might have been with that original lineup- those first three albums were absolutely amazing.
I was just going to say that. One of those bands that makes you wonder what if...
 
Who knows, they burnt a lot of rocket fuel on a steep trajectory.

That is a great point. Rock history is filled with bands that were dynamite early and then faded badly (Zep, Pink Floyd, Stones, many more). The late 60s/early 70s was a magical time that ended for all of those bands regardless of circumstance.

Maybe Neal Young was right… better to burn out than fade away.
