2026 hunt adventures, the next Ben series

Oldest shot the slug gun and shotgun with buckshot yesterday together ready for youth day today.



He went with my brother in law this morning but I was told he was a little too pokey and a buck jumped out 50 yards ahead of my brother in law and garland was just dilly dallying around behind him and couldn't shoot.

Out this afternoon at a spot a really nice buck showed up on camera last night. I'm on the front with Jonah and garland is in the back of the property with my brother in law. Will see what happens.

Three does just stepped up out of the beans about 80 yards away. Maybe they'll meander closer.

Well they walked to the ditch and tracks we were on and I lost sight of them. We waited and hoped they had turned and were walking toward us but alas they just crossed the tracks and got behind us. Didn't see them again until the last 15 minutes of shooting light and they were a hundred yards away.

Garland and his uncle didn't have much better luck and only saw two does. Found out that there was a different person hunting a few hundred yards down on the next property with his scent blowing all over where the deer normally are.

Brother in law just sent me a cell cam picture of one of the smaller bucks right where they were sitting. Maybe next time.
