2025 WY Sheep Hunt

First day of scouting today. Mainly just to get out and check out an area I haven't spent much time in. No sheep spotted, but no concern.

These pictures are from years ago, the only pictures I've taken of rams in the area. I really like the looks of the wide ram on the left in the first picture. I'd love to shoot one with that look. He was the biggest in that group, and the only one that looked like maybe a shooter. The second is a pic of a ram I saw along the highway one December. Looks like a good one to me, but definitely will have to see what other kind of rams there are in there.View attachment 371478View attachment 371477
The top picture doesn't look like sheep country to me, but what do I know. Have fun and find a pre-64 Model 70 270 or use your 9.3x62 is my vote.

Third scouting trip over the long weekend. Didn't see anything the first two days.

By Sunday afternoon decided to drive into an area where you always seem to see sheep, ewes and lambs anyway.
Sure enough...

35 sheep in all. These two guys were practicing butting heads and biting nut sacks.

Made a couple more scouting day trips, and set up a trail camera. Will be interesting to see if anything walks by. I don't normally use trail cameras, but figured this would be a fun time to set a few out. Probably leave them over the winter too.

No mature rams spotted, but did see one young one. Unfortunately wasn't able to get a picture. Did get a good look at what sheep tracks and droppings look like though. Raspberries are starting to turn red. Small but so much flavor.
