Welcome to Montana, except make it open from August 15 to February 15, over the counter cow tags, no quota. I could go kill a cow this next week, but I refuse to participate in what we’ve been doing.

My version became: i have a b tag but I dont need the meat. My attitude these days is take what I need.

Well hunted yesterday for the last day. Sat all day and saw zero deer. Had a coyote come through with about 5 minutes of legal left carrying a deer leg. Seems fitting with how the season went. Although I had a heavy 4x4 at that spot hitting almost every day in the night and he hasn’t been back yet so hopefully it wasn’t his leg getting carried off. Was a challenging season the 3 bucks i was after were big time wanders and two I seem to be on the edge of their range. The third I relocated late in the season and just ran out of time. I already have little tweaks for next year. Time to get some coyote snares out and do some calling and help the deer over winter. I hope I can chase these bucks again next fall

First time in 11 seasons that I don't notch a whitetail buck tag!

Glad the big guy survived, showed up two hours after season end. Managed to find where he was coming from a couple days before season end to try and catch him during daylight hours, see you next year, hopefully!
