2025 Colorado Bighorn Sheep Hunt

Taking a break at 10,900’ on the way in. I thought it was in shape but this is a whole different level.

Last blood was at 11,300’ just under 1/2 mile from where we are sitting. Started up from 8,900’ at 6:00 this morning.

Thinking everything through we are hoping for it to have been a liver hit. That would explain him stopping and being so hesitant to move and the dark blood. Also the sound of the heavy hit of the bullet wouldn’t be a grazing brisket shot. Other option would be a hind quarter hit but he seemed to be moving pretty well on all fours after the shot so really hoping it was a liver hit and we can find him soon once we get there.

I'm guessing that where you are at it isn't crazy thick making it super difficult to grid search if you have to. Good luck and hoping you get him!

About to start a grid search. A little tricky on the side of the mountain where we are. Just keeping from falling down is a challenge. Just an enough brush and trees in this spot to make spotting him difficult.

We are all thinking he is going to show up. Probably will be in the most interesting place.

Since it sounds like it is steep, also look a few hundred yards down the hill. They can roll/slide a long ways.

I think we are going to do a back and forth grid search all the way to the bottom about 1,000’ of elevation drop below us. Back and forth about a mile then drop 100’ of elevation the back over and repeat.
