Bought a Howa Superlite in 6.5 creedmoor this summer on clearance, always wanted a lightweight rifle for many reasons and sure like carrying it.
20 inch barrel, likes hornady precision hunter 143 eldx. Shoots great. I was surprised how well it shoots.
Took it out this week for the first time and took a mule deer buck at 300 yards (298 to be exact) shot was perfect, tight behind front shoulder heart shot,
vx3 4.5x14 scope.
Very pleased with the results, actually really pleased. Complete pass though, performance through and through was impressive.
Is this what others are seeing with this combo or similar combo?

Pic of exit.

My friend shot a whitetail buck in the neck with that load at pretty close range and it didn’t exit. We thought it should have.

I reload, but I bought a box to try in my Tikka. They shot well. I had a few left in the box so I tried three in my daughter’s new Tikka last week. I sure can’t complain about the group but they were only going about 2550 fps.

Great group. Mine is similar and I am super happy with that. I know the speed is nothing to brag about (in fact i joked with the kids that I took a sip of water waiting for the thwack) but I'm not sure I'm going to even be concerned about the speed after what I did and saw this week. But sure like to hear from others as this is my first kill with that combo. As a bowhunter first I can't help thinking about the bulls I have shot with the arrow going 260 fps and zipping through, as well.

In my 6.5 CM, the 147 gr ELD-M factory round was right about the same speed as the factory 143 gr ELD-X. The ballistic coefficient is a little better with the ELD-M.

My daughter had an exit with the 147 gr ELD-M on a rib cage shot on a calf elk at a little over 500 yards with a 6.5 PRC.

Congratulations
my wife new Tikka 6.5CM for Alaska trip. We tried those 143 precision hunters out of it and it did not like it.
Switched to Norma bondstrike 143gr.
It shoots lights out with it.

My hunting partner used them, they shoot great. But more often than not it would look like a grenade went off. The sheer amount of lead fragments and bloodshot made him stop using them. Now he uses a Barnes TTSX and sees no reason to go back.

Great bullet, but just a reminder that factory ammo these days is a complete crapshoot. I've tried multiple lot numbers in factory Hornady Precision Hunter and saw over 100fps muzzle velocity swings, and 2+ MOA to under 3/4 MOA with the same rifles (Tikka liked one and a Savage liked another).

If your lot is slow, try another. If your rifle doesn't like that lot, try another. Or just handload and you get both speed and accuracy.

Meat damage can be wild at closer range and high velocity. It will still open going slower and further out than other bullets that are tougher.

Simply a choice of tradeoffs that align or dont with your application.

Thanks for the replies. Here's a few more pics of the shot setup that was a fast setup and shot, the buck and loading up the truck pic.
