10 Point Cow Hunt

it took you 10 years of holding out to get those points. I would not burn them on a cow.
for example I burned few deer points last year and because of it while it seems weird I was actually more willing to eat the tag while holding out for a bigger buck. When burning points experience of the hunt is just as rewarding and trying to tag a big bull or buck is just that much more of a challenge

There are plenty of decent Cow tag options that don’t require any points.
That’s my opinion since you asked.
If you want to PM me your seasons of interest and units/area as others have offered I’m happy to look at data and make suggestions

I just think 10points are too valuable to burn on cow tag

Nicely stated, thanks for your input.

Clearly there are some people who value a cow hunt, I see last year a NR drew EF002O3R with 25 points! Could have been a mistake I guess.
See these type of draws all the time. And I suspect they are mistakes and get returned to get points back.
Here’s that 1 tag back in 2nd draw. So someone did turn it in. Most likely that same person you listed after they realized they mistyped EE as EF

I'm looking at my application options for Colorado 2026.

I have 10 elk points and am considering applying for a cow tag. It might seem crazy, and perhaps it is, but I can draw a cow tag in the best units in Colorado and one which suits my plans (both location and timing) for a road trip to the South West corner of the state.

Anyone else burn points on cow tags for the experience and glad they did?
Seems like a reasonable use of points IF the specific area you want to hunt in isn’t replicateable in a lower point unit of same species, or accessible with other species?

I’ve had a blast on 5 point cow hunts in Terrain I couldn’t find elsewhere (wilderness & topography). Would it have been better with a bull? Maybe, maybe not. But I enjoyed the cow hunt too.
