Hello -
Last year I purchased 160 acres along with a cabin in the Breaks. The Cabin is now hooked up to electricity and is setup on a cistern and septic, so it will provide for an extremely comfortable hunting base camp. In addition, it has RV hookups. The 160 acre property, although not...
Sorry for rehashing something that has probably already been discussed… how does 410 go from a general tag to LE of only 100 tags. Yet the Custer remains general???
Is 410 really that bad off (relative to the Custer), or were we lucky that 410 got changed and the Custer is a huge miss??
A little background to the story. It was my birthday that day, last day of a 7 day hunt, and we almost didn't hunt. I had a terrible kidney infection earlier that year that almost killed me. I was on blood pressure medicine, and we didn't know my blood pressure had dropped extremely low...
I think it took 4-5 years before I killed my first elk (a cow with a rifle). Then I killed an archery bull after 11-12 years of trying. It was a giant 368” public land bull, so I have always felt like the wait was worth it. Screwed up many many encounters over the years.
during the oil boom in North Dakota there were no hotel rooms. So I spent many nights in random houses with other traveling oil workers…those were bad. but one late evening we needed to find a room. We ended up in Culbertson, MT the guy at the front desk said, all we have is one room, but it...
Just a thought. Montana already has e-tags. Could fwp improve the app, so they can collect real time data on harvest? If they had the data, would they use it?
Would a group like onX or others, chip in to create something like this for fwp? I know there are lots of businesses that chip in for...
Agreed 100%
As a MT resident, I also want to see our tag prices go up for residents. We need resources to improve this, and resources cost money. I am more than happy to chip in.
This thread has taken in interesting turn. Sadly ethics are no longer valued by many.
After handling the elk, my thoughts are this arrow was likely deflected. I can’t see the arrow stopping in the loin, if someone actually shot it straight on. But that is just my best guess.
My shot...
The elk was in a herd, so I didn’t get to observe him very long. In the brief time, nothing struck me as odd. He didn’t like me being close and he wanted to leave. My shot ended up being high and back, he trotted maybe 10-15 yards and died.
I killed a bull this past week with my rifle and it had an arrow along its spine. I am sure some archery hunter is wondering what ever happened to the bull. I am curious to try and connect to hear the other part of the story. I have attached photos, if you send me a PM with the correct type...
I have a nice Alaknak setup, and currently have zero plans to use it this year, so thought I would see if anyone has a need and would be interested in renting the tent setup from me. The tent can be picked up in Billings MT.
What I have:
12'x20' Cabelas Alaknak Tent
Tent floor liner
Camp Chef...
